I haven’t added a whole lot besides names and dates that I’ve come up with along the way and a lot of pics that I found in my grandmother’s old shed. So here’s on that I heard about a lot when I was younger and more when I started hunting genealogy more extensively.
A little background first. My mother, Nancy Kathleen Kelly, is the daughter of Margaret Lunelle Austin (Hulsey) Kelly, granddaugher of Maggie Austin and granddaughter to Sephronia Horn Austin and Charles Austin. Ok……so
Mom and grandmother used to go to Tulsa a lot to visit the relatives, Goldie and her bunch. The visits consisted of the cousins that were there (all girls) hanging out and playing while the adults played cards in the main room. Mom said that Goldie had this HUGE feather bed that the girls loved to curl up in, wrestle in and just generally hang out in. Mom has always said how soft and big that bed was and that it could hold all of the girls (7 or so of them) Many of the family did this (they also went to all of the cemeteries in the Tulsa area every year to put flowers on the graves) it was Goldie’s house, her daughters were there as was Frona, and Goldie’s sisters and their girls that were close. Those card games were a great treat for mom and she says she’ll always miss that big ol’ bed.
anyway, just a cute little something 🙂
