Cheryl Smallwood-Roberts designed the exhibit honoring Paul Henry Carr in Checotah, OK. The Carr exhibit, installed by Crain Displays, is located inside the restored 1890-era Katy Depot Museum, the MKT’s oldest surviving wooden train station, just off Highway 69 at 1000 Paul Carr Drive.

USS Carr (FFG 52) Decommissioning by Mike Rush

February 13, 1924. October 25, 1944. July 27, 1985. March 13, 2013. The ship lived longer than the man it was named for. Dates. History. Family.Sadness. Pride. Bitter-sweet memories. Brother,
he was to his sisters. Silver Star recipient, leading his gun crew to accomplish the near impossible, as his gunnery officer was to say after the battle. Uncle Paul to his many nieces and nephews, our mothers’ brother who never came home from the war, but never left their hearts. Like music, history plays its notes and moves on.

(NNS) — The Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided- missile frigate USS Carr (FFG 52) and embarked Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) offloaded 1.5 tons of cocaine and almost two tons of marijuana worth an estimated street value of $114.1 million at Naval Station Mayport Nov. 30. Carr’s Last Thanksgiving

CARR Families and Friends,

Our Family Readiness Group (FRG) would like to pass along a note – The FRG is holding a “Night Before Party”; this is an opportunity for families and friends to gather as the excitement builds for homecoming.  It will be a chance to socialize, eat, purchase FRG merchandise, and a chance to participate in a drawing for prizes.

Although we see the endpoint in sight, we still have a bunch to do.  In addition to executing our daily mission, we are preparing CARR for our return to Norfolk, including: preservation, training, and planning for our inactivation maintenance period.  Thanks to our Family Readiness Group for doing a great job of making preparations for our return!
