USS CARR has new Blue Noses, Uncle Paul was a Shellback

USS CARR Families and Friends –

First off, I hope that all our families and friends have weathered Hurricane Irene without significant damage or injury.  Our Sailors have been calling and emailing their families to verify they are doing well.  For any family members who need assistance, our OMBUDSMAN is the first place to start.

Email exchange between Jeff Rush and Commander of USS CARR

Right on schedule! It is always sad to see a CO move on, but it is good to see someone else have an opportunity to command the finest ship in the USN! As much as we would want to be there, Jane and I won’t be able to attend this change of command ceremony. I will be just returning home from a two week trip to Uganda on March 5th and as much as I would like to attend, I think it best I stay home (this time). J However, if you will send the invitation to me anyway, I can scan it and send it via email to my brother David who maintains a family website (http://www.austin-carr.org). We can post the invitation there and ask that anyone who plans to go notify you directly.

CARR Family,

I hope this email finds you all well.  Time is flying by and I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week already.  We’re finally out of the shipyard and we’re busy trying to get ready for our Engineering Certification the week of 27 Nov.  The crew is tired, but spirits remain high….I’m not sure how they do it, but I’m blessed to have a crew like this!
